When I moved to North Wales three years ago I had been fly fishing for about 18 months, my casting was not great (a lot of effort with little gain) and my fly fishing knowledge was very limited!! I was feeling a little despondent with it and thought of packing it in.
So during the winter months, as an attempt to keep my interest going I joined a local fly tying group where I met Brian. I told him I was a complete novice and had some issues with my casting and I welcomed his offer of some coaching to iron them out. After a couple of sessions I was feeling more confident and my casting improved enormously. Once my confidence was up it was onto learning new techniques and understanding not just the casting but the complexities of different rods and lines.
A whole new world was opening up to be being guided around the beautiful mountain lakes and rivers by Brian which has allowed my fishing knowledge to develop alongside my casting, giving me a much better understanding of the local entomology, reading the water, tying the local fly patterns and knowing how to fish them, local knowledge you cannot necessarily find in books.
Brian has opened up a fantastic world of fly fishing to me that I never new existed with summer days on the mountain lakes fishing for wild brown trout and cold winter days chasing the Grayling along the river Dee,
Heaven absolute heaven.I will continue to be coached and guided by Brian and look forward to the next challenge," Sea Trout"
If you get the opportunity to spend time with Brian, being guided or coached, take it and you will find he is not only very knowledgeable about all aspects of fly fishing and a fantastic coach but he is a humerus and very patient man.

I first met Brian 5 years ago on the banks of the river Thurso. Since then he has been an excellent source of knowledge and advice regarding fly casting and fishing methods/ Techniques. He also tyes a great fly
(Salmon like them too!)
To say that Brian eats, sleeps and breathes fly fishing would not be an exaggeration.
Highly recommended.

I have been fishing for wild brown trout in the Blaenau Ffestiniog area with Brian for the past two seasons. He is always pleasant company, willing to share his extensive knowledge on tying and fishing both dry and wet flies.During this time, thanks to Brian my ability to tie and fish small dry flies has improved significantly. Currently the secretary of the Cambrian Fly Dressers Guild he has on several occasions demonstrated his abilities in tying Salmon, Sea Trout and Trout flies to the members. Having represented Wales on three occasions Brian certainly knows how to catch fish on the fly.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for all the help sorting out my casting faults that I have developed over the years.
I would also like to say how much I and others have enjoyed going out to those special places like Gamallt and the river Dee with you.
I may not be a very wealthy man but to spend time up in the mountains fishing for wild brown trout makes me feel a very rich person indeed, it has done me the world of good.
Thank you once again for the fantastic company and the great craic.

Days Tuition on Gamallt Lakes
My friend Chris and I had a truly wonderful day with Brian.
The day was much more than expected from the time allocated and the range and quality of the tuition.
It turned a full day of exact instruction on the flies to use, the craft needed for those particular lakes and all aspects of water craft.
This included casting tuition to suit the conditions as well as a wealth of information and local knowledge.
All in all a very memorable day.
Very highly recommended.

My son and I hired Brian, to take us fishing in a mountain lake, we were both novices and needed lots of looking after.
We had a great well organized day, with loads of instruction from a man with an in depth knowledge of the subject.
Would I use Brian again?
You bet I would
Happy fishing,

Hi Brian,
What a fabulous day! I really appreciate the time and effort that you invest, and yes I will be practicing the high back cast with more effort in order to come back next May to show you the improvement and to meet face to face with more of those rising fish we saw.
The whole day for me was a wonderful combination of wildlife, spectacular scenery, tuition and fishing.
Thank you for your patience, see you in May 2018

Three Clients Guided day`s fishing with Fish Snowdonia.
George Windsor-Aubrey, Joe and Michael from Dublin.
Had the most fantastic wild brown trout day guided by Brian back in early June on Llynnau`r Gamallt Lakes with two friends from Dublin.
Thank you Brian for showing for us this truly magical spot. Very healthy stock of wily wild brownies in the 8oz-24oz bracket.
Great wading on lake shores makes it very easy to cover full arc of each bay before moving on down to next bay.
Great rise to the "Cog" courtesy of Brian`s excellent fly tying, when the rise stopped at approx 3.00pm a switch to a Zulu pulled as a traditional wet fly brought a great response from strong fish.
Thanks again Brian, We will be back next year

Return visitor David Pillar
David is a returning client who absolutely gets what fishing is about, Catching fish is great but there is much, much more to it than that.
Wild Heather covered moors, rare birds, Rocky crags all around you and a challenge to any angler to fool those wily wild brown trout. As you can see the weather was fantastic and by David`s smile how chuffed he was to bag 2 trout and lose a few others on his day.
Thank you David for your company, a joy to guide.
